BMW i3 is the first all-electric mass market BMW, shaped as a small MPV. BMW i3 changed the way cars are made structurally, having a carbon-fibre body cell for passengers and an aluminium frame in the back for the engine compartment. All body panels are made from plastic, being more durable than steel and aluminium used before for this kind of parts. The car is very light (1,195 kg without driver) when compared to other electric vehicles of its time, is very easy to drive, and has excellent performance thanks to 170 hp electric motor.
